Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Location: Ashaway, RI
Pay Rate: $23 per hour
Work Schedule: 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off); occasional overtime based on business needs
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Manufacturing Technician to join our production team in Ashaway, RI. In this role, you will support the manufacturing, troubleshooting, rework, and testing of electrical, electronic, fiber optic, and mechanical components. Working under the guidance of the Production Supervisor, you’ll ensure high-quality assembly and performance of critical systems used in advanced applications such as telemetry and electronics.
This position is ideal for individuals with entry-level experience in manufacturing or electronics who are eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a high-performing team.
Essential Responsibilities:
Assemble electrical, optical, and mechanical components, harnesses, and subassemblies using work instructions, drawings, and required tooling.
Perform continuity and functional tests on assemblies using test equipment such as ohmmeters and oscilloscopes.
Assist in evaluating and recommending process improvements and specification changes to enhance quality and efficiency.
Set up and operate standard and custom test apparatus to verify performance and reliability of production or prototype models.
Accurately follow test procedures, safety practices, and quality standards as outlined in company documentation.
Identify and escalate quality or safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety and manufacturing standards.
Serve as a mentor to less experienced peers after achieving advanced certification levels.
Participate in training sessions and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Foster positive relationships with team members, engineers, and other departments to support company goals.
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
0 to 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing, production, or assembly environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and detailed instructions.
Basic understanding of electronics and mechanical systems.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
IPC J-STD-001 soldering certification (current or previous).
Experience working with fiber optic and electrical assemblies.
Familiarity with testing tools and equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and work in a structured, team-oriented environment.
Work Environment & Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in a production environment.
Tasks involve the use of hand tools, test equipment, and assembly fixtures.
Close concentration, manual dexterity, and visual attention are required.
This is an entry-level role with opportunities for mentorship and growth into more complex technical responsibilities.
