The Bloomingdale Psychotherapy Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor (MHC) to join our team in a full-time capacity. This remote position will be instrumental in providing high-quality mental health care to individuals within a community health clinic setting. Key Responsibilities\n

  • Conduct thorough mental health evaluations and crisis interventions for patients, utilizing evidence-based practices.

  • Assess patient needs to develop and implement personalized treatment plans that may include individual counseling, group therapy, and crisis management.

  • Complete comprehensive documentation and statistical reports related to patient care and treatment outcomes in compliance with organizational and legal standards.

  • Collaborate with relevant departments, including the Department of Corrections, to ensure appropriate access and resources for patients.

  • Lead therapeutic group sessions, providing support and guidance in mental health observation units or other designated settings.

  • Participate actively in clinical supervision sessions at least once a week, engaging in reflective practice to enhance service delivery.

  • Engage in case conferences and multidisciplinary treatment planning to enhance care coordination for patients receiving mental health services.

  • May conduct psychological testing to assess patient needs and inform treatment strategies.
  • \n
  • Mentor and supervise social work interns or student volunteers during their clinical training, enhancing their professional development.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Unit Chief, Assistant Unit Chief, or Clinical Supervisor.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The Mental Health Counselor will primarily serve individuals who are incarcerated or have a history of incarceration, along with civilians from the community seeking support with behavioral health challenges. Clients may exhibit a variety of mental health concerns, including severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and behavioral challenges. This role is critical in facilitating access to mental health care for vulnerable populations who often face significant barriers to receiving treatment.

Qualifications\n

  • A valid state license required, which may include LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT.

  • A Master’s degree or doctorate in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

  • A minimum of five years of full-time, paid, professional experience providing direct patient care in a behavioral health setting.

Preferred Experience\n

  • Experience in conducting assessments and treatment for individuals with behavioral problems, substance use issues, and severe mental illness.

  • Inpatient or residential treatment experience is highly desirable.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team within a corrections or community health environment.

Compensation and Benefits\n

The salary for this position ranges from USD 115,000 to 130,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
